The God Who Walks the Earth

Many times Muslims will tell you, "No one has seen God..." and then they will quote you John 1:18, "No one has ever seen God."

But obviously their understanding of that verse is incorrect, because the very first Book of the Bible and other books of the Old Testament show us where:

- YHWH literally came down to earth to walk and talk with Adam and Eve (Genesis 3)

- YHWH physically appeared to Hagar, mother of Ishmael, in Person, in a visible Form. Here is that verse: "Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, “You are a God who sees”; for she said, “Have I even remained alive here after seeing Him?” Genesis 16:13 NASB

- YHWH physically came down to earth to visit with man (Gen 18, Gen 32, Judges 13). Not only that but YHWH comes to earth as a human being Who EATS what Abraham feeds Him on earth (Gen 18)

- while physically on the earth speaking to Abraham, YHWH calls on YHWH Who is in Heaven to rain down fire and brimstone on Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen 19)

- YHWH physically WRESTLED with a man (Gen 32)

- YHWH physically appeared to Moses in a burning bush (Exodus 3)

- YHWH appeared to Moses, Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and 70 of Israel’s elders, "... they saw the God of Israel. Beneath His feet was something like a pavement made of sapphire stone, as clear as the sky itself. God did not harm the Israelite nobles; they saw Him, and they ate and drank." Exodus 24:9-11

And that is the God of the Bible, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Unlike the god of the Quran, YHWH has no problems entering into His creation, whether in human form, or as the Malakh YHWH, or even as the Pillar of Fire or the Pillar of Cloud which guided and protected Israel every single day for 40 years.

YHWH the God of the Bible walks among His people. He talks to them, wrestles with them (they always lose, of course), He comforts them. He guides them and shelters them. Lo and behold, He even dines with them.

Sounds an awful lot like the Jesus of the New Testament, Who speaks to those who think they can get by without Him, saying:

"Listen! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and have dinner with him, and he with Me." Revelation 3:20

p.s. Here is how John 1:18 reads in two versions that Muslims need to see:

"No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him." John 1:18 NASB

"No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.John 1:18 NLT

"No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known." John 1:18 ESV

  Hope that helps!
