Muslims claim that they follow Jesus more than Christians do.
But do they even know what following Jesus means?
“If anyone wants to be My follower, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me." Mark 8:34
In calling His followers to "deny themselves and take up their own crosses," Jesus was speaking of the attitude of servanthood that all Christians are to adopt, with Jesus as the Ultimate Example. As Jesus said,
"No one has greater love than this, that someone would lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13
Contrast Jesus with Muhammad, who said,
"My provision has been placed under the shadow of my spear, and abasement and humility have been placed on the one who disobeys my command." (Chapter 61. Book of Jihad and Military Expeditions, LXXXVII: What is said about spears)
Muhammad was the polar opposite of Jesus, taking whatever he wanted whenever he could, and teaching his followers that they could do the same.
Where the Son of Man came to earth to serve mankind, Muhammad demanded subservience from others.
Where the Son of Man came to give life, Muhammad took it.
Where the Son of Man came to set free, Muhammad enslaved, and his teaching continues to enslave today.
Jesus is clearly the One we should follow, rather than the man Muhammad.
But there is one other point to be made here. Another point for Muslims to consider.
Muslims, why would Jesus tell His followers that they must take up their own crosses and follow Him...
if He never got on the cross Himself?
Jesus was no faker, unlike some "prophets" out there.
Jesus didn't just talk the walk.
He walked The Walk.
Every last bloody step up that hill called Golgotha.
And then He died to save you and me from our sins.
Because that is what He had come to do.
But the good news is He rose again after three days, just as He had promised!
Which proves that Jesus isn't just a Savior...
He's a Mighty God, too!
